Fighting ISIS with medicine

My latest piece for Al-Monitor on the foreign volunteers fighting ISIS in Iraq. A new group, Qalubna Ma’kum, is focused on medical training and treatment in addition to combat training, unlike other foreign fighters who serve in infantry roles. Interviews were done in Erbil, Amman and via the internet.
